What’s in My Kitchen: An Update (Part 2)

To continue on with my post a couple weeks ago, here is an updated list of the pantry items, dry goods, and bar items I keep on hand for my own convenience and for guests, should they desire, well, anything ever.

For cooking:

  • At least two varieties of whole wheat pasta
  • White rice
  • Brown rice
  • White and red kidney beans
  • Black beans
  • Pumpkin puree
  • A few kinds of canned soup (tomato, chicken noodle, Spaghetti-Os… just in case)
  • Chicken stock
  • Kosher salt
  • Finishing salt (I like Maldon)
  • Black pepper in a grinder
  • A few kinds of dried herbs
  • Chili powder and cayenne
  • Garlic and onion powder/salt
  • Soy sauce, hoisin sauce, fish sauce
  • Onions, shallots, and garlic
  • Olive and canola oil
  • Balsamic vinegar

Made these on a whim with things I already had!

For baking:

  • White flour
  • Whole wheat flour
  • Sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Confectioner’s sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Cream of tartar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Corn starch
  • Cinnamon and other pumpkin spice-y spices
  • Active dry yeast
  • Honey
  • Chocolate chips

For snacking:

  • Toasty Cheez-its (guilty pleasure, but man are these good)
  • Dark chocolate
  • Leftover candy from care packages (thanks, Mom!)
  • Whole grain crackers
  • Popcorn
  • Nuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Cereal

My lovely bar

For the bar:

  • Red wine
  • Whisky/bourbon
  • Scotch
  • Gin
  • Vodka
  • Sweet vermouth
  • Angostura bitters

These lists are obviously very flexible, based on what you like.  For example, I like bourbon, but I highly dislike rum, so I don’t stock it.
