What’s in My Kitchen: An Update (Part 1)

Posted on Posted in Inspiration

A long time ago, I posted an article on my pantry staples.  While a lot of those things are still true, many things have changed.  This is a very, very complete list and can vary based on your liking, but I keep all of these things stocked so that I can always make a healthy meal (without repeating the same thing every night)  Here, you’ll find what is in my fridge/freezer, but I’ll also do a post on my dry goods/snacks and on the most important cooking tools I can’t get by without.

In my fridge:

  • Eggs (I like Eggland’s Best or local eggs)
  • Loaf of whole wheat sandwich bread
  • Butter (regular and high quality for the best toast ever)
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella and cheddar
  • Grated parm/romano
  • Prosciutto
  • Small containers of plain yogurt
  • Jam
  • Balsamic glaze
  • Real maple syrup
  • Pumpkin spice latte syrup (recipe coming sooooooon!!)
  • Leftovers for lunches!

  • Broccoli
  • Peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Lemons, limes, and grapefruit
  • In season fruit
Quick salad? No problem!

  • Skim milk
  • Vanilla almond milk (for adding to decaf coffee for a late-night treat)
  • Infused water
  • Filtered tap water
  • Tonic/soda water (for mixers)
  • Beer/white wine
  • Iced decaf coffee
  • Iced regular coffee (saved directly in the Chemex)
Unexpected guests? Offer them a drink!

  • Whole wheat pizza dough (homemade or store bought)
  • Frozen rolls
  • Ginger (it keeps best in the freezer)
  • Chia seeds, flax seeds, wheat germ, etc. from the bulk bins
  • Frozen brown rice
  • Frozen fruit for smoothies (especially nearly bad bananas)
  • Vegetables (always spinach, broccoli, and corn)
  • Edamame for snacks
  • Ice (duh)
  • Whole and ground coffee
  • Ice cream
  • Frozen meat
  • Lots of leftovers
I can always make pizza!
I can always make pizza!

With these items as a base (along with the things in my pantry), I always have things on hand for snacks and quick meals, plus I have the staples ready for when I want to make something a bit more adventurous so I don’t have to buy a ton of new ingredients.

  1. Your home made pizza looks delicious-and the perfect way to use leftovers. I use to make my own pizza all the time, but fell out of doing it. I really like pizza that isn’t plastered with tomato sauce!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
