I’m a little over the top with organization (I legitimately get compliments when I’m grocery shopping on how well I pack my cart), but I think it’s important for everyone to be at least a little organized. That being said:
Keep your kitchen organized! I legitimately labelled everything in my kitchen so I always know what ingredients I have/don’t have and where my supplies go. The fridge has shelves specifically for dairy, fruits, veggies, cheese, drinks, and, most importantly- leftovers and other open perishables! No wasted food in this kitchen! The freezer has one shelf for ice trays and frozen veggies (we have a lot) and one shelf for desserts, breads, and fruit. The drawer that should be for ice is full of meat to prevent cross contamination, and the door has things like basil and flax seeds.
Our pantry is organized by person, and then my shelf is further divided into grains, canned goods, vegetables, and desserts. Our spices, oils, and baking ingredients have specific homes in the cabinets. And of course, all our pots, pans, knives, and other cookware have designated places too. We even got extra shelves to open up more counter space!
Doing a little mapping out now will save you time and money in the future!
